Integrating Social Responsibility at South Dakota State University

Keynote and Workshop Speaker: Paul Loeb, author of Soul of a
Citizen: Living with Conviction in a Cynical Time and associated Scholar
at Seattle's Center for Ethical Leadership.
Paul Loeb has spent thirty years researching and writing
about citizen responsibility and empowerment-- asking what makes some
people choose lives of social commitment, while others abstain, and how we
as educators can get a new generation involved as responsible citizens.
He has written for the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times,
Psychology Today, Utne Reader, Academe, Teaching Tolerance, Redbook, the
International Herald Tribune and the Christian Science Monitor, been
interviewed on CNN, NPR, C-SPAN, NBC News, and the BBC and lectured at
over 300 colleges throughout the country.
Breakout Sessions featuring reports from the Social
Responsibility Task Force and results of faculty and student surveys on
the topics. Panels include topics such as service learning, land
stewardship graduation requirement, student engagement in social
responsibility, and managing disruptive classroom behavior. |
